Desktop Gadgets Support Likely To Be Scratched Off Windows 8




Those cute little handy desktop  gadgets might not make it to Windows 8, sources from Win8china say. Surprisingly though, the Desktop Gadgets were a retained feature in the latest builds of Windows 8 including Windows 8 Consumer and Release Preview editions. Originally introduced in Windows Vista, Gadgets are mini programs that offer information at a glance and provide easy access to frequently used tools.

Win8china, the site which claims to have obtained the latest versions of Windows 8 affirms this news. The desktop widget engine was introduced in Windows Vista, utilizing a special sidebar which served as a fenced area for the activated gadgets. The mini-apps are based on HTML and can extract information from web feeds. The sidebar feature of the gadgets was later removed, with the release of Windows 7 but Microsoft continued to support the standalone gadgets.
The decision to axe the gadgets altogether might stem from Microsoft’s persistent Metro push and the fact that developers can build Metro-style apps.. Though, the news is still officially a rumour.  Microsoft has not made any official statement on the subject in question. If Microsoft aims to completely get rid of desktop gadgets or wants to support it as a separate app or in a premium SKU of Windows 8, we are yet to know.

Computers Will Assist Programmers To Understand & Modify Their Programs – Says Hoare



Sir Charles Antony Richard Hoare is a priciple researcher in the microsoft in cambridge.He reworked for the  famous "Turing test" for programmers.peaking at Alan Turing Centenary Conference in Manchester, Sir Hoare said that in the next 50 years time, a computer will be able understand its own program and assist the programmer to make changes and improvements in it. So, according to his predictions this new engineering version of the Turing Test will enable interactive environment for the programmer where the machine will examine the user’s program. This means that the programmer can practically ask questions to the computer.
                                                            Currently efforts are being made so that the computers not only demonstrate mathematical proofs but generate them also. Citing the FlySpeck project, he said that it is an attempt to prove the Kepler conjecture on the most efficient packing of spheres. Hoare further makes clear that the term ‘understanding’ doesn’t mean that the computer can reflect on the meaning of the program, the way a human does. And it goes without saying that there will always be some questions that a computer won’t be able to answer.

                                         As we all know windows 8 is the upgrade versions of other windows.You will be able to access it if you are having a PC  being run on Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 you will qualify to download an upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for just $39.99 as and when Windows 8 launches later this year (probably between Oct-Nov) from Microsoft’s Windows site. After that the upgrade will be available till Jan. 31, 2013. If you have qualms about the difference between Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro, you must know that there is very little difference for an average user. Features like BitLocker encryption, booting from a virtual hard disk, and Hyper-V, remote desktop host etc. then only these features are not seen in Windows 8 Pro.
                                            f you prefer buying a DVD instead of downloading the upgrade, you will find it in stores for $69.99. Thats it. We will let you know when the upgrade is outed.

World’s Fastest Camera Which Can Detect Rare Cancer Cells


Researchers at UCLA have developed an optical microscope camera using advanced microfluidics technology and real-time processing to analyze blood samples. The original 2009 model was upgraded to a higher throughput of 100,000 cells a second, around 100 times faster than its counterparts, rendering it the fastest camera in the world. Such a high throughput makes the camera eligible of detecting rare cancer cells in blood with statistical accuracy.
Early detection of diseases like Cancer is instrumental in the process of curing it, but due to the lack of advanced monitoring devices, detecting a handful of rogue cells between a billion healthy cells becomes practically impossible. The technique developed by UCLA Researchers makes this task possible with an automated, high-throughput system.


While digital cameras are the norm for analyzing cells, they fall short for this application. Traditional CCD and CMOS cameras do not function optimally at high speed as they become less sensitive to light with high speed. The team of researchers led by Jalali and Dino Di Carlo, a UCLA associate professor of bioengineering, defeated these shortcomings by developing an optical microscope with sensitivity of one part per million in real time.
Their research has proved successful with real-time identification of rare breast cancer cells in blood with a record low false-positive rate of one cell in a million and is currently undergoing further validation.
